A serious, dutiful, and damaged young man who is desperately afraid (and desperately longing) to connect. He may seem reserved on the surface, but there's a lot happening under the hood.
Squall is an introverted and taciturn fellow who's spent most of his life pushing people away because he's scared of being abandoned. He can be withdrawn and he regards having five whole friends as exhausting, but he's skilled, observant, dutiful, and will do absolutely anything for the few people he cares about.
Of particular note is his relationship to Rinoa Heartilly: she's more than just a friend to him. She's more than just his girlfriend. She's his Sorceress, and while he hardly buys into Seifer's Sorceress-and-Knight fantasies, there's a bond there that goes right down to his bones.
Squall is the son of Laguna Loire (to his chagrin), the Estharian President, and has been training to be one of the world's elite mercenaries since he was six or seven years old. He wields a Gunblade and has enhanced strength, speed, and endurance thanks to various "junctions." He is capable of wielding limited amounts of magic, depending on what spells he has in his inventory and what he has junctioned.
